“Broad 2005 and 2006 were both brilliant outings, we received standing ovations in every city and sell out shows. On stage the feeling was inspiring, listening and participating in what could be described as the greatest chick band touring. I had a ball and I’m champing at the bit for another one this year, the possibilities are delicious.” - Deborah Conway
Deborah Conway’s legendary Broad concert series is back for a third year in 2007, with four brilliant female musicians and four different styles, joining Deborah in theatres around Australia to explore their own and each other’s music.

THE PERFORMERS
ANNE McCUE
“My new favourite artist and an amazing guitarist”
- Lucinda Williams
Now based in Nashville with a number of acclaimed albums under her belt, it all began when Anne answered an ad in the paper which read "Wanted: Wild Women For Rock'n'Roll Band" and joined Girl Monstar as lead guitarist, touring Australia and topping the independent charts for weeks at a time. After four years and an ARIA nomination for the band, Anne decided to pursue a solo career, which took her to Vietnam for a year before heading to the USA.
She has played all over the U.S., Canada and Britain as part of the "Lilith Fair and has toured with Heart, Richard Thompson, Lucinda Williams and Paul Kelly.
Her last album Roll was feted in Billboard, Entertainment Weekly and XM Satellite Radio (Top 5 Album of the Year) and was picked by Bob Harris (The Old Grey Whistle Test) of the BBC as his favourite album of 2004.
That rare breed, the female lead guitarist, she has appeared on albums by Michelle Shocked and Gina Villalobos & has had a feature written about her in Guitar Player Magazine.
This year Anne has released her fourth solo album, Koala Motel.

SALLY SELTMANN
“Sally Seltmann is an unsung national treasure, one of Australia’s most gifted song writers...”
Guy Blackman, The Sunday Age
New Buffalo mastermind Sally Seltmann began composing songs on piano as a 10-year-old. There’s still a hint of that young writer in the wide-eyed, expressive sounds she describes as “sparkly and loyal, old and worn, fragile; a vulnerable little girl lying in her bedroom at night”. But beneath the winsome tone, there’s a decade of musical experience. Before her New Buffalo incarnation Seltmann was treading the boards with Sydney guitar-pop outfit Lustre 4. At 22 she fell in love and eventually married Darren Seltmann, founder and producer from The Avalanches, and moved to Melbourne where her music took on a more introspective & ethereal flavour.
In 2004 she released her first album The Last Beautiful Day to rave reviews both in Australia and abroad. This year sees the release of her stunning second album “Somewhere, anywhere”.

DEBORAH CONWAY
“Blessed with an angelic voice, deft at lyrical wordplay and armed with a seemingly inexhaustive melody well, Conway creates songs which become best friends for life.”
Daily Telegraph
From her mid 1980’s debut with seminal band Do Re Mi (and their chart topping single Man Overboard), through film and stage appearances, to an extensive solo career, Deborah Conway remains a constant beacon for high quality, creative independence. Her first solo album, 1991’s ARIA award winning String Of Pearls, set the standard – attaining platinum status and spawning the single It’s Only The Beginning. 1993’s Bitch Epic and the experimental Ultrasound followed. After a stint in the UK Conway released My Third Husband, Exquisite Stereo, PC (The Songs Of Patsy Cline) and Summertown.
Along the way Conway also starred in the stage show Always …Patsy Cline; collaborated with classical composer George Dreyfus, Paul Grabowsky’s Australian Art Orchestra and Brisbane band george. Most recently she has devised and produced Broad.

ABBE MAY
“If Johnny Cash played blues driven like a train, then Abbe May has thrown Patti Smith on those same tracks, sending the train sideways”
Xpress
Front woman for Australian rock and rollers, The Fuzz, Abbe May has toured the country playing rock n’ roll since 2002. It was thirsty work and after four years on the road, the girl needed a shot of rhythm and blues!
With the help of local legends K.T Rumble and Todd Pickett, she started a blues band called The Rockin’ Pneumonia. Abbe’s whistling lead breaks and scotch-soaked vocals, combined with her chain gang swagger and tales of heartache, have charmed audiences from Adelaide to Townsville and everywhere in between.
If you’ve ever suffered a broken heart or dropped your scotch before you could taste it, Abbe May and the Rockin’ Pneumonia will cure what ails ya!
Last year Abbe won WA Performer of the Year
Abbe’s debut album is due out in late 2007.
